Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Corridor Clinical Section Lead (CCSL), Pediatric Emergency.
This 0.30 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL), Child Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
The Corridor Clinical Section Lead, Pediatric Emergency is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Child Health in the Pediatric Emergency Program in Edmonton Corridor. This position is accountable for, but not limited to the review, development, and improvement of the services and programs in Pediatric Emergency.
The Corridor Clinical Section Lead for Pediatric Emergency is a Senior Medical Leadership role in the Edmonton Corridor providing leadership support to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead, contributing expert guidance and advice to matters within the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Child Health and conducting rigorous performance management and quality improvement. Other major accountabilities include:
- Quality - ensure the ongoing monitoring of quality clinical/medical practice across sites and ensure effective processes are in place to encourage best practice and improve clinical outcomes
- Academic Liaison – ensures effective support at the site level for teaching and research where appropriate
- Resource Management – support recruitment and retention of physicians to staff the Pediatric Emergency Program and standardization of contracts
- Physician Performance Review – support bylaws processes as needed, and performance reviews of physician staff appointed within the section. This is inclusive of reviewing and recommending privileges for physicians within the section.
The position has an expected term of 3 years.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety working as a part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
