Deep River & District Health (DRDH) is seeking locum physician coverage in our Emergency Department for various upcoming shifts. Flexible scheduling available with dates between August – December 2025.

Next open shifts: 
- Friday, July 25, 2025 - day 0600-1800 hrs
- Sunday, August 3, 2025 - day & night 0600-0600 hrs (option to do back-to-back shifts available)
- Friday, August 8 - Sunday, August 10, 2025 - mix of days & nights on all dates 

Our Emergency Department facilities include two resuscitation beds, two observation beds, one procedure room and four treatment rooms, as well as diagnostic imaging support, PACS, lab support, cardiac monitoring, bed side ultra-sound and an exceptionally supportive nursing team.

Our current average volume is 38-42 patients in 24 hours with the majority being CTAS 3-4. We offer a very competitive hourly stipend ($160/hr for all day shifts, 0600-1800 hrs, and $170/hr for all nights, 1800-0600 and weekend shifts). Additionally +10% of shadow billings is paid to you and collect 100% on third-party billings. For the summer months through to September 30, 2025, an additional hourly top-up is paid on all shifts ($70/hr). Requirements: Valid CPSO, CCFP-EM, FRCPC(EM), or previous experience working in rural ED, ACLS, ATLS (recommended by not required), Proof of CMPA – New grads welcome (ask us about doing a buddy shift)! The DRDH Campus is also comprised of our 16-bed acute care inpatient unit, as well as our 12-bed long-term care, the Four Season Lodge, and the North Renfrew Family Health Team.

Traveling to the area is best by personal vehicle given our location and your mileage is reimbursed to you. Cozy onsite accommodations available or if you are planning to cover a longer stretch of dates and would prefer off-site arrangements, this can be discussed.  

In your downtime between providing care in our emergency department, come enjoy a few days in our beautiful community along the water. Get in a quick paddle on the Ottawa River or bike some great trails taking in the scenic views. Located right off the Trans Canada highway, Deep River, is just two hours west of Ottawa and two hours east of North Bay, making for a great summer road trip.
