With a population of 15,000 year round residents and triple that in the summer months; Kenora truly is a fantastic town to practice medicine and enjoy your down time. 

Kenora's Lake of the Woods District Hospital is an accredited teaching site with 75 Acute care beds - 11-bed Emergency department, 4 bed closed ICU, and 17 in-patient psychiatry. On-site Social work, CT/Xray/US, Radiology, RT, and lab make this interdisciplinary site a collaborative work environment.

The Emergency department has EM physicians, +1 Physicians, and FM physicians providing high quality emergency care and full-spectrum rural medicine. The ED is single physician coverage, with 24/7 back up available and has the added support of NP triage & weekday PA.  

EMERGENCY MEDICINE

• 8-10-hour shifts at an average rate of $300/hr (dependent on shift and day of week)plus shadow billing and ER Back-Up (8am-8am) at $450 day.
• Scheduling flexibility with equitable shift scheduling
• 11 bed ED with standard equipment including slit lamp and two fully equipped resuscitation rooms with ED ultrasound and difficult airway equipment.
• On-site (24/7) Specialty consults: general surgery, internal medicine, psychiatry, family medicine, anesthesia, and obstetrics
• On-site helipad for 24/7 patient transfer to tertiary facilities
• EMR (Meditech)
• LWDH meets the immediate healthcare needs of the City of Kenora, as well as a large surrounding area that includes several First Nations Communities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current valid independent practice license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and CMPA coverage for Ontario
• Current ATLS, ACLS, and PALS training and/or CCFP or CCFP (EM), or FRCP (EM)
