SUNNYBROOK EMERGENCY MEDICINE
Are you an Emergency Physician seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity in a dynamic and progressive healthcare environment? Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking passionate individuals to join our team. We are always on the lookout for ambitious physicians who aim to leave their mark on the emergency medicine landscape, and we are fully dedicated to supporting you every step of the way to reach your goals. Sunnybrook is a tertiary care hospital in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area with 1.2 million patient visits annually including 64,000 ED visits. We serve as a regional referral centre for diverse specialties, including burns, stroke, cancer, interventional cardiology, neurosurgery, vascular, spinal surgery, and high-risk maternal/neonatal care. We function as the base hospital for Toronto EMS and are proud to be Canada’s largest trauma centre and the first hospital in Canada to be accredited by the American College of Surgeons as a Level 1 Trauma Centre.
We are a collaborative and collegial group of approximately 45 physicians with a commitment to academic success and clinical excellence. We prioritize group wellness and flexible scheduling due to our varied practice patterns and interests. These interests include pre-hospital care, quality improvement and patient safety, health services research, virtual care, technological innovation, ultrasound, and medical education. Clinically, we function in a well-resourced environment with a diverse, complex patient population. We have unparalleled support from specialist consultants and allied health, as well as comprehensive options for follow-up to ensure our patients receive the best care during and after their ED visit.
Sunnybrook is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto and a core training site for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program and various Postgraduate and Fellowship Programs. Our staff are well-established leaders in medical education. We are a lead site for the residency program’s POCUS training, and our simulation program offers both teaching and continuing professional development opportunities in a high-fidelity, interprofessional, team-based environment.
Duties:
- Provide exemplary, efficient, and patient-centred clinical care
- Supervise and support bedside teaching of trainees
- Provide medical consults to in-field paramedic teams through our patch program
- Contribute to the academic priorities of the University through education, quality improvement, research, and/or administration
Requirements:
- FRCPC, CCFP-EM or DABEM certified in Emergency Medicine
- MD or equivalent
- English proficiency
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Strong clinical and teaching skills
- Though all are welcome to apply, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority
