Emergency Medicine Physician - Part-Time
The Emergency Department Physician Group at Brockville General Hospital invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time and/or a part-time role as an Emergency Medicine Physician. Locum opportunities are also available. The successful candidate will join a closely-knit and diverse team of physicians focused on providing safe, effective care in a collaborative, collegial and multi-disciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Department Chief of Emergency, the Emergency Medicine Physician collaborates with other physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and allied medical staff to:
* Provide patient-centred care
* Participate in medical staff meetings and committees as required
* Ensure medical practice is compatible with the hospital’s mission, vision, values, and strategic direction
* Participate in a culture of continuous quality improvement aligned to standards of excellence
* Support double physician coverage (12:00 pm to 9:00 pm daily)
* Mentor medical students and residents
Renumeration
Brockville General’s ER Physician Group is supported by an Alternate Funding Arrangement (AFA) model. Compensation includes a highly competitive hourly shift rate and a proportion of OHIP billings. Full-time physicians (14 shifts per month) can expect an estimated $375K to $400K per annum.
Practice Environment
Brockville General Hospital is a 160-bed hospital in the city of Brockville, which is 45-minutes from Kingston and an hour from Ottawa. Brockville General is the largest hospital in Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville County, serving a catchment area of 250,000. Located in the beautiful Thousand Islands Region, we are the perfect place to practice and play.
The 18-bed ER sees an estimated 30,000 patient visits annually with a wide range in acuity. The department offers three main shifts and double coverage (12:00 pm to 9:00 pm). Specialized in-house services include a 10-bed ICU, GIM, general surgery, urology, psychiatry, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and palliative care. The hospital is a tele stroke site and has a dedicated integrated stroke unit for rehab. Diagnostic imaging includes on-site ultrasound, XR, CT and MRI. The hospital recently implemented the Cerner EMR as part of the Lumeo regional initiative.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have an M.D. or equivalent as well as an active license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) and up to date coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA). Having the CCFP EM Fellowship/FRCP EM and/or emergency medicine experience is an asset but not required.
