Job Description
Uxbridge Hospital is currently seeking Emergency Physicians to provide emergency services in a single coverage ER. Local support is strong for urgent situations along with supportive specialist colleagues available at the Markham Stouffville Hospital for consultation. Each day has three 8 hour shifts. There are a variety of clinical situations – Typically CTAS 3 & 4, with 1 or 2 CTAS 1 & 2 per day. There is on site lab, x-ray and CT service all available 24/7, ultrasound Mon-Fri with after hours availability at Markham Stoufffville Hospital.
We offer a competitive hourly rate with higher rates on weekends and holidays. Summer weekends in July and August offer an additional hourly rate bonus. Short and long-term opportunities are available.
Uxbridge Hospital currently operates a 20 bed facility with an active Emergency Department as well as an extensive outpatient program and diagnostic services. The collegial medical community currently consists of a mix of CCFP, CCFP(EM) and FRCPC doctors who variably participate in emergency room, inpatient care, family medicine and local walk-in-clinics. Continuing medical education is a strong focus of physicians, nursing and allied health professionals in Uxbridge with particular attention to advanced rural skills. It is a fantastic place to work! Redevelopment plans for the hospital are also underway to add more patient beds and expand key services, making it easier for families to continue receiving high-quality care, closer to home.
Qualifications/Experience:
- An independent license from the College of Physicians and Surgeon of Ontario (CPSO) to practice as an Emergency Physician
- Certification with the College of Family Physician Canada (CFPC), Emergency Medicine (EM) training preferred OR the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), Emergency Medicine.
- Demonstrated clinical experience, expertise and knowledge
- Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, communication, organizational, team building and conflict management skills
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
