Company Description
Hillside Pines provides long-term care (LTC) services to 50 people in a supportive home environment. Our goal is to ensure quality of life for those who live here through holistic, person-centered care. Dignity and individuality are honored as we work to eliminate such risks as loneliness, helplessness, and boredom.
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and experienced Medical Director to lead our nursing care team and guide clinical operations for Hillside Pines.
Job Description
The Medical Director is a clinical consultant who, along with the Nurse Practitioner, provides oversight and expertise to ensure the delivery of exemplary clinical services to the people who live here. Collaborating with the Nurse Practitioner and a team of professional licensed staff, the Medical Director ensures that care aligns evidence-based practices, regulatory requirements, and Nova Scotia Health’s mission to promote health and wellness.
Compensation: Stipend, approximately $5,000 per year
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Consultant: Provide guidance to the interdisciplinary care team, fostering an environment of collaboration and professional excellence.
- Person-centered Care: Oversee the delivery of medical services, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of elder health concerns.
- Quality Assurance: support quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with provincial LTC standards and best practices.
- Policy Development: Collaborate with the leadership team to implement and update medical policies and procedures for the facility.
- Education and guidance: Mentor staff in clinical best practices, providing education on geriatric care, chronic disease management, and palliative care as needed.
- Act as the primary liaison: between Hillside Pines and external healthcare providers.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice medicine in Nova Scotia and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
- Experience in geriatrics, family medicine, or long-term care.
- Proven leadership abilities and a commitment to person-centered care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with elders, families, and staff.
- Familiarity with provincial LTC regulations and guidelines.
