The community of Melville, located in Southeast Saskatchewan, is seeking a team orientated and professional family physician to join their primary health care team. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing primary health care services to the community of Melville and surrounding area and will work collaboratively with other medical professionals to support the acute care and emergency services in the area.St. Peter's Hospital in Melville is a fully accredited district hospital which provides the following services: Emergency room, Acute Care, Chemo outreach, Lab, Radiology, Spiritual care, Social Work, Pharmacy and Physical Therapy.The Saskatchewan Health Authority is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the educational needs of medical students, residents, nursing staff and allied health professionals. The successful candidate will be encouraged to become involved in the academic efforts in the Department of Family Medicine in our area.This position will remain open until filled and may be filled prior to the posted closing date

The Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in SaskatchewanThe SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year for fulltime work.Additional community incentives may be available and will be discussed with the applicant
Qualifications:
Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificationRecommended - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)Valid driver’s licenseSuccessful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sectorCurrent Canadian Medical Protective Association coverageLegal entitlement to work in CanadaThe successful candidate should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

24-hour on-call emergency coverage is required for the emergency room, hospital inpatients, home care and long-term care residents, as well as for critical lab values. Currently, the on-call responsibilities are shared equitably among physicians in the community.
