Job Description
Family Physician Wanted: Established 700-Patient Practice Takeover
FHO+ | Collaborative Teaching Clinic | Huntsville, Ontario (Muskoka)
Take over a thriving practice. Join a great team. Live where others vacation.
A well-established family practice in Huntsville, Ontario is seeking a Family Physician to assume care of approximately 700 patients in the FHO+ model. I am transitioning to a full-time career in Sport and Exercise Medicine, and I want to hand my patients to a physician who will care for them as thoughtfully as I have.
The Opportunity
- Ready-made roster of ~700 patients. You start with an established, engaged panel, not an empty schedule.
- FHO+ model. Enjoy the stability of blended capitation funding with the flexibility to shape a practice that fits your life. [Insert details on compensation structure, expected income range, and any available start-up support.]
- Smooth, supported transition. I will work with you on a planned handover, including patient introductions, chart orientation, and a warm transfer of complex patients, so continuity of care stays intact.
- Flexible start date and practice style. Full-time or a blended schedule can be discussed. [Adjust as appropriate.]
- Full-scope family medicine. The roster spans all ages and stages of life, including chronic disease management, preventive care, mental health, and MSK care.
A Practice Where You're Supported
You will join a collaborative, multi-physician teaching clinic where no one practises in isolation.
- Colleagues down the hall. Curbside consults, shared coverage, and peer support come with the job.
- A teaching environment. Work with learners if you enjoy it, or step back if you don't. Teaching keeps clinical thinking sharp and the team energized. [Insert affiliation, e.g. NOSM University, and learner levels if applicable.]
- Interprofessional care. [List allied health team members, e.g. nurse practitioners, RNs, social workers, dietitians, pharmacists, mental health clinicians.]
- Modern infrastructure. [EMR, admin support, office manager, clinic hours.]
- Community hospital access. The clinic works closely with Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. [Confirm hospital privileges expectations.]
Why Huntsville and Muskoka?
Huntsville is a place people plan vacations around. As a physician here, you get to live in it.
Four-season outdoor lifestyle. Lakes, rivers, and forest are minutes from your door. Paddle, swim, and boat in summer. Hike and bike through spectacular fall colour. Ski, snowshoe, skate, and snowmobile all winter. Algonquin Park is close by, and Arrowhead Provincial Park is right in town.
A real community. Huntsville is a friendly, welcoming town with a walkable downtown, local restaurants and shops, a vibrant arts scene, and events and festivals throughout the year. You will know your patients, and they will know you.
Great for families. Enjoy good schools, safe neighbourhoods, and space to breathe. Your kids can grow up on the water and in the woods.
Connected, not remote. Huntsville is about 2 to 2.5 hours from the Greater Toronto Area. [Confirm and adjust drive times.] It has full town amenities, a regional hospital, and easy access to the rest of Muskoka and Ontario.
Housing and lifestyle value. Depending on your priorities, you can find everything from a lakefront cottage to a comfortable family home, often with a quality of life that is hard to match in larger centres.
Ideal for physicians who value balance. If you want meaningful, long-term patient relationships and a lifestyle that supports your own wellbeing, this is the place.
About Me
I have loved my years in family medicine and the relationships I've built here. My career is now moving toward full-time Sport and Exercise Medicine, and I am committed to finding the right physician to carry this practice forward. I will happily support the transition and introduce you to the clinic and the community.
Who We're Looking For
- CPSO registration, or eligibility for registration, in Ontario, with CCFP or equivalent
- A commitment to comprehensive, relationship-based primary care
- A collaborative, collegial approach
- Interest in (but not a requirement for) teaching
- New graduates, mid-career physicians, and physicians relocating from other provinces or countries are all welcome to apply. [Adjust as needed.]
Interested?
Let's talk about how this practice could fit your goals. Tours of the clinic and community can be arranged, and I would be glad to answer questions in confidence.
