Job Description
Covenant Health in partnership with Alberta Health Services and the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, invites applications for a General Pediatrician to be based primarily at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
Covenant Health is committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. The principles of equity and diversity are applied in the creation of the search and select committee, and all members of the search and selection team will have completed implicit bias and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion education.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities in outpatient clinical care while working with a multidisciplinary team (physicians, nurse practitioners, unit managers, RN, LPN, social worker, children’s services workers, child life specialist and admin support) in the PKIC Clinic (Pediatric Kids In Care) based at the modern and custom-designed clinic space at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital. The candidate will be joining a well established and successful program and will share patient workload with an existing pediatrician in the clinic.
The program works in partnership with Children’s Services, to evaluate the physical, mental, social, and educational needs of some of the most vulnerable children in Northern Alberta, using a trauma informed approach incorporating the skills of all team members. This program provides a medical home for children in care, offering primary care supported by the nurse practitioners and secondary level pediatric developmental and mental health assessments. There are many interesting opportunities to contribute to case planning with children’s services and information to family court when required. Case conference is held once a month as an opportunity for the whole team to discuss complex cases for debriefing and management. Child psychiatry consultation is also available as required. The program collaborates across medical disciplines and within multiple government ministries (Education, Justice, Children’s Services and Health). The program also provides education to medical learners at various levels of training.
We strongly encourage any interested parties to email ***@covenanthealth.ca (🔒 Premium)">***@covenanthealth.ca (🔒 Premium) to learn more about job flexibility and opportunities within the clinic.
The successful applicants are expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
