Position Overview
Covenant Health, in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Pediatrics, is inviting applications for a General Pediatrician to join the medical staff at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital (GNCH) in Edmonton, Alberta.

About the Opportunity
The successful candidate will join a collegial group of eight private practice pediatricians with admitting privileges at GNCH. The role offers a broad range of community pediatric practice, including:
Clinical Responsibilities
- Participation in the GNCH call roster, including:
- Newborn admitting privileges
- Consultation with NICU for neonates transitioning to home
- Daily rounds on non‑assigned newborns the morning after call (typically 12–20 newborns) and ongoing until discharge
- Availability for consults from GNCH Emergency, Post-Partum, and community Public Health nurses
- Call expectations are 3–4 days per month within an 8‑physician call group.
Outpatient Responsibilities
- Join an existing private pediatric clinic and provide general pediatric outpatient care 3–5 days per week (specific arrangements made with clinic colleagues).
Teaching
- Provide in‑office teaching to medical students and residents.
- Teaching remuneration is provided through the Edmonton Pediatric Society Committee (EPSC) according to established rates.
Departmental Participation
- Attend monthly business meetings with pediatrician colleagues and departmental staff.
Academic Appointment
The successful candidate is expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Alberta. Appointment decisions follow a separate process within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
Qualifications
Required
- MD or equivalent
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
- Certification in Pediatrics (FRCPC) from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
- Demonstrated commitment to:
- High‑quality clinical care
- Patient safety
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in healthcare
- Principles of Just Culture
Preferred
- Interest or experience in community pediatrics
- Subspecialty training complementary to community pediatric practice
Qualifications
