General Surgeon with HPB Fellowship Training
Health Sciences North (HSN) is recruiting a full-time General Surgeon with specialized fellowship training in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery to join our collegial and dedicated surgical team in Sudbury, Ontario. We are looking for a skilled, compassionate, and collaborative individual who values a balanced lifestyle and is eager to contribute to high-quality patient care in Northern Ontario.
About the HSN Surgical Program
Health Sciences North (HSN) is the largest hospital in Northern Ontario and serves as the tertiary care referral center for over 600,000 residents across a vast geographic region. Our Surgical Program is comprised of a diverse team of more than 75 surgeons, representing a wide range of specialties. The program is supported by an integrated team of anesthesiologists, internists, intensivists, perioperative nurses, and allied health professionals, all working collaboratively to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Each year, the HSN Surgical Program performs over 16,000 operative procedures across a wide spectrum of complexity and subspecialty care. Key features of the program include:
- 17 fully equipped operating room suites with state-of-the-art technology
- Comprehensive perioperative services, including a Level III Intensive Care Unit
- Dedicated surgical inpatient units and outpatient ambulatory care facilities
- A comprehensive regional cancer center and multidisciplinary care teams that support complex oncologic surgeries, including hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), gynecologic, breast, and head & neck cancers
- A strong academic affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM U), offering rich opportunities for clinical teaching, mentorship, and collaborative research through the Health Sciences North Research Institute (HSNRI)
Requirements
- Eligibility for Independent Practice with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Canadian or US Board certification in General Surgery with additional HPB Fellowship training
- US-trained candidates are encouraged to apply – HSN is experienced in supporting CPSO licensure and immigration processes for qualified US trained physicians
- Maintain a faculty appointment with NOSM-University and contribute to the academic mandate of the General Surgery Department
