Geriatric Medicine Locum Opportunities

Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN) and the community of Greater Sudbury is actively seeking Locums for its Care of the Elderly service.

Through the Northern Specialist Locum Program (NSLP) locums will have access to:

-Flexible scheduling

-Travel and accommodation reimbursement

-$322 daily honorarium (travel and clinical days)

The North East Specialized Geriatric Centre (NESGC) at HSN has a multitude of geriatric services including the Geriatric Inpatient Consultation Service, Geriatric Mental Health Outreach Service, Geriatric Outpatient Rehabilitation Service, Behavioural Support Outreach Service, Reactivation Care Unit, Geriatric Medicine Urgent Response Team, Regional Outpatient & Outreach Geriatric Medicine Service and a successful partnership with Community Paramedicine.

The successful candidate(s) will work with 1 existing Geriatrician, 3 Care of the Elderly Physicians, and work with teams of specialized health care providers to provide interdisciplinary consultation to Sudbury and Northeastern Ontario via acute care consultation, ambulatory clinics, telemedicine consultation, home visits, long term care consults, and geriatric rehabilitation support and consultation.

The full complement of HSN’s teams includes: nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, recreation therapy, reactivation workers, social work, dietician, manager of clinical services,  clerical  support,  and  a  Geriatric Knowledge Translator.  Inpatient work is completed at the HSN main site and Daffodill Lodge (41 Ramsey Lake Road, Sudbury), outpatient services are offered at the NESGC (960-D Notre Dame Avenue, Sudbury) and the Sudbury Outpatient Centre (865 Regent Street, Sudbury).

Locum physicians will also participate in General Medicine call and be involved in the Internal Medicine Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU). 

All candidates must be eligible for licensure in Ontario and have obtained or be eligible to obtain specialty qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as a Geriatrician or Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada as a Care of the Elderly Physician.
