Our group of nine committed, supportive family physicians is looking for a June 2025-May 2026 locum physician to join us in the provision of low-risk obstetrical and neonatal care at Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH) in Fergus, ON.

Nestled between the communities of Elora and Fergus is the new 152,000 sq ft. Groves Memorial Community Hospital that backs on to the Elora Cataract Trailway and offers a modern, bright, healing environment. Our brand-new hospital is a 44-bed acute care facility (with the ability to surge to 50 beds) has two state-of-the-art operating rooms, three L&D rooms, CT scanner and 24-7 emergency department. 

GMCH has approximately 600 births/year between our family medicine group, local midwifery teams and scheduled cesarian sections. 

Job Description:

- Family Medicine-OB (FM-OB) on-call physician manages labour patients, including oxytocin inductions/augmentations, performs triage assessments, attends scheduled and urgent c-sections as the baby physician and provides neonatal critical care/stabilization for transfer when required

- The family medicine-OB (FM-OB) group is supported 24/7 by three local obstetricians and a team of GP-anesthetists

- Approximately 1:9 on-call responsibility with 24-hour home-call shifts (response time to GMCH must be within 25 minutes)

- Opportunity to participate in ½ day OB clinics through the GMCH ambulatory care department; clinics are supported by an RPN and are free of overhead charges

- Participation in Friday morning (0700-0800) virtual team rounds required

- Practice Solutions EMR is used to keep thorough antenatal records; in hospital and remote access will be provided 

- Opportunity for longer term participation in the group is a definite option

- Definite opportunities for additional community involvement through family medicine office locums and a well-remunerated after-hours clinic
