Job Description
The Department of Medicine at Scarborough Health Network is recruiting for a Malignant Hematologist to join our current team. As a staff Hematologist, you will assess and treat patients with benign and malignant hematology conditions in an ambulatory setting. You will also consult on admitted in-patients, join regular department meetings, actively participate in Multidisciplinary Cancer Conferences and participate in the hematology call schedule.
The position is funded through an Alternate Funding Plan (AFP) with the Ontario Medical Oncologist Association (ONTMOA) and is a 0.75 FTE for malignant hematology. The successful candidate will be expected to provide service to Scarborough residents by establishing a community-based office which will be remunerated through a fee for service model.
As part of SHN’s vision to become Canada’s leading community teaching health network, the successful applicant would be supported to obtain an adjunct-lecturer appointment with the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine to facilitate to education of medical students and residents.
The successful candidate must be eligible for independent practice licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, hold RCPSC certification in Internal Medicine and Hematology. Emphasis will be placed on candidates with experience working in a community hospital setting as well as candidates with strong communication skills.
