Job Description

Northumberland Hills Hospital is currently seeking a Hospitalist to grow and enhance an established Hospitalist program. The ideal candidate will join a dedicated team comprised of Physicians and Nurse Practitioners.


The Hospitalist role will encompass the following responsibilities:

Working collaboratively with local General Practitioners, Specialists, Nurse Practitioners and Allied Health professionals using a blended model for hospital‐based care. Participating in the call schedule for the Hospitalist Program (e.g., seven-day block / q. monthly). Contributing to ongoing quality improvement initiatives, enhancing the delivery of care within the acute and post-acute departments. Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for medical patients. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Certification with the College of Family Physicians (CCFP) 
  • Registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  • Family Medicine or Internal Medicine trained
  • Strong communication and interprofessional skills

About Northumberland Hills Hospital:

Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care, and palliative care while post-acute services include restorative care and rehabilitation. Mental health care, chemotherapy, dialysis and 16 other ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. As well, NHH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including magnetic resonance imagine (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and mammography.

 

NHH makes its home on the north shores of Lake Ontario in west Northumberland County, just an hour's drive east of Toronto and approximately three and a half hours west of Montreal. With a mixed urban and rural catchment area of approximately 60,000 residents, west Northumberland comprises the, Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope, and the townships of Hamilton, Cramahe & Alnwick/Haldimand. The proximity to Peterborough, Oshawa, Belleville (a 45-minute drive to each city) adds an important dimension to local health care partnerships and integrated hospital services, while the easy access to the 401, Via Rail and the Pearson International Airport ensures a close connection to communities and services outside the immediate region.
