Locum Hospitalist Opportunities @ BRIGHTSHORES - Owen Sound for Summer 2025
We are currently seeking locum physicians for our Hospitalist service at BRIGHTSHORES HEALTH SYSTEM – Owen Sound Site for May-Sept 2025!
We offer mileage reimbursement and accommodations in beautiful downtown Owen Sound!
Hospitalist weeks generally include call expectations the weekend following in some capacity, relative to number of weeks scheduled, but there is flexibility pending locum availability.
Hospitalist Service:
Hospitalists provide care for non-critical care medical and/or surgical patients over the age of 18. On-Call support also includes rehabilitation and psychogeriatric units. Each Hospitalist carries a maximum patient load of ~15 patients. The average on-call commitment includes 2 weeknights and 1 in 4 weekends. There is excellent support from consultant specialists and the emergency department, as well 24-hour labs and comprehensive diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability). Educational affiliations with the Rural Ontario Medical Program (ROMP) and the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry provide a wide range of teaching opportunities.
Qualifications:
Interested candidates should be CCFP and have an independent license to practice in Ontario.
A minimum of 2 weeks locum coverage is recommended as part of the recruitment process.
Remuneration:
Mon-Fri daily stipend of $1200; HOCC stipend + 100% fee-for-service OHIP billings on evenings, weekends and Stat holidays.
HOCC allowance.
FFS evening and weekend billings.
Hospital based office and computer provided.
Relocation allowance and other recruitment incentives for permanent physicians.
Preference will be given to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents. Only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
Brightshores Health System
The Owen Sound hospital is a Level 2 regional referral centre with a Level 3 ICU, offering a full range of specialty services through the Departments of Anesthesiology, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Urology). Robust on-site radiology services include MRI, CT, interventional, ultrasound and x-ray.
