Locum Oncology Hospitalist - Oncology Program

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is the largest community based academic health network in Ontario serving over one million residents in the communities of Mississauga, Peel Region and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital (CVH), Mississauga Hospital (MH), and Queensway Health Centre (QHC) – offering a full range of acute care hospital services, as well as a variety of specialized programs including the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre.
The Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre is a growing cancer program and in the last year had over 200,000 patient visits. The Regional Cancer Centre is a fully integrated cancer program that provides a full spectrum of Oncology consultation and treatment services. The Division of Medical Oncology is comprised of a dedicated group of 20 medical oncologists that primarily work at the Regional Cancer Centre located at Credit Valley Hospital Site. The Division of Medical Oncology also provides on call, inpatient MRP coverage for patients admitted to Medical Oncology and consultant coverage as required throughout the organization.
We currently have one (1) Locum Tenens clinical position available for an Oncology Hospitalist (OH) to join our team and support the Division of Medical Oncology from April 20, 2026 to April 19, 2027. The successful candidate for the OH position will be part of a team of 3 OHs and will be responsible for the daily management of patients admitted to the medical oncology inpatient service. This will include participation in team rounds and family communication, conduct admissions via ED and complete admission and discharge documentation/ summaries. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide coverage of the REACT urgent oncology clinic, which serves as an ED diversion clinic to address treatment toxicity and provide urgent assessment and outpatient management for patients. Competency with oncology related procedures (e.g., paracentesis, thoracentesis, bone marrow aspiration/biopsy, and lumbar puncture) or willingness to undergo dedicated training is an asset. There will be competitive remuneration and no expectations for overnight call or weekend coverage. Training (e.g., as a General Practitioner in Oncology or equivalent) or experience in an oncology environment is favoured, but not mandatory. Inpatient experience in oncology is preferred but not required.
The successful candidate will promote and exemplify excellence in professional practice and conduct; be licensed or eligible for a license to practice in Ontario; and certified in Family Medicine by the College of Family Physicians of Canada or Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He/she will have evidence of an academic interest and expertise and be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto (UT), Faculty of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine. THP is affiliated with the UT-Mississauga campus Academy of Medicine, a focus on medical education and educational scholarship is preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to team based and inter-professional care are essential.
