The Division of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta and the Section of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Alberta Health Services-Edmonton Zone are inviting trainees to apply for an 18 month locum tenens position in Head and Neck Oncology with Microsvascular Surgical Reconstruction commencing July 1 2026.

***-***-**** (🔒 Premium)" paraeid="{7232478b-0009-4b26-8845-9b01a40dae5d}{130}">While the position is primarily based out of the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH), the Division of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery in Edmonton provides comprehensive services for a wide geographic area for northern Alberta and neighboring provinces. The UAH is one of Canada’s leading clinical, research, and teaching hospitals, treating more than 700,000 patients annually from across western and northern Canada and offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services, including specialized services within cardiac sciences, neurosciences, surgery, medicine, renal critical care, emergency and trauma care, and a state-of-the-art burn unit. The hospital is also home to Alberta Health Services organ and tissue transplant program, which is recognized as a national leader in both success rates and transplants volumes.
This position is designed to be a mix of both clinical and research opportunities. A strong research track record as well as preference to an advanced research degree (MSc, PhD or equivalent) is mandatory for this position. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in regular new patient and follow up clinics as well as on-call services and emergency room consultations. Academic activity is also expected becoming a teaching member of the head and neck surgical fellowship program as well as the Division of Otolaryngology – Head & neck Surgery at the Universtiy of Alberta. The successful individual will be expected to participate in the research activity of the division with translational, clinical and basic science opportunities available. Compensation will be based on Fee for Services for clinical locum services.

Selection criteria will include demonstrated advanced training in Head and Neck Oncology (completion of an accredited minimum 1 year fellowship), clinical skills and experience, and academic achievements. Candidates must be eligible for specialist licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Interested qualified applicants should forward their CV accompanied with the names of three references, by June 12 2026; however the competition will remain open until filled.
