Our client, Norfolk General Hospital (NGH), is a 102-bed full-service community hospital accredited with exemplary standing serving the over 65,000 residents of Norfolk County in beautiful Southwest Ontario.  Hospital services include a 7-bed level II ICU, bed side Ultrasound, CT Scan, and excellent specialty support in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, and Family Medicine.

NGH is a Level 1 Hospital which has approximately 320 deliveries annually.  Its 4-bed Obstetrical unit has dedicated nursing staff, a separate triage area, and 24/7 access to epidurals, C-sections, and in-house RT.  Norfolk General Hospital serves a catchment population of approximately 110,00 within the Haldimand and Norfolk Communities.  NGH supports more than 4,000 admissions annually.

NGH is seeking two Obstetrician / Gynecologists to join their dedicated group of 4 Family Medicine OB practitioners.  There is opportunity for full-time or part-time positions.

Candidates must be certified, or eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics / Gynecology and hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  Offering great flexibility and work/life balance, this opportunity includes a very attractive compensation and relocation incentive package.

Practice Profile includes:

- Provide Obstetrical and Gynecological services for the hospital and community

- Two OR days weekly with colposcopy potential

- 1 in 5 shared call with 4 family medicine OB practitioners (General surgeons to provide C-section when off call)

- Fee for Service billing plus HOCC on-call stipend

- Opportunity to expand the OB/GYN Department and further develop the Women’s Health Program, including input into upcoming renovation

- Minimally invasive surgery capabilities

- Midwifery backup and consultation

Education/Academic:

Affiliated with McMaster University staff at NGH are eligible for an academic appointment and can participate in post graduate education teaching opportunities with residents and medical learners rotating through Obstetrics. Regular CME opportunities are available and supported.

The hospital is located in Simcoe, Ontario, 10 minutes from the spectacular shores and beaches of Lake Erie on Ontario’s beautiful Southcoast.  NGH is centrally located 30 minutes from Brantford, 60 minutes from Hamilton, London and Kitchener, and only 90 minutes from the Greater Toronto Area.

Norfolk County is renowned for its local fresh produce, warm southern climate, outstanding wineries, fishing on Long Point Bay, outdoor activities including 55 kilometres of mountain biking trails, camping, Carolinian forests, and sandy beaches from Port Dover to Long Point.
