This position offers a dynamic mix of inpatient consulting and outpatient care, centered around our established Pediatric Diabetes and Metabolic Clinic.
Serving a population of approximately 400,000 in Southwestern Ontario, this role provides significant opportunity for teaching, quality improvement, and clinical excellence within a highly collaborative academic environment affiliated with Schulich Medicine, Western University.
Why Choose Pediatric Endocrinology at WRH?
This is a high-impact role in a busy, specialized setting where your expertise will directly shape patient outcomes.
- Established Clinic: Lead the specialized Pediatric Diabetes and Metabolic Clinic, which currently manages approximately 250 patients with Type 1 diabetes and 30 patients with Type 2 diabetes. The clinic supports 4,000 to 5,000 patient visits annually.
- Exceptional Support Team: The clinic is fully supported by a dedicated interdisciplinary team, including a full-time Registered Nurse Certified Diabetes Educator (RN CDE), a full-time Registered Dietitian CDE, and part-time non-CDE registered nurses.
- Academic Affiliation: WRH is home to one of the two campuses of the MD program and a Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU) of the Pediatric Residency program for Schulich Medicine at Western University.
- Dual Appointment Opportunity: Successful candidates are eligible to apply for a part-time appointment at Schulich Medicine and a cross-appointment at the Faculty of Science, University of Windsor.
- Compensation: The compensation for this position is primarily composed of OHIP fee-for-service.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing comprehensive clinical care through outpatient clinics in both general pediatric endocrinology and pediatric diabetes.
- Delivering in-patient care, primarily acting as a consultant within the 16-bedded Pediatric Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU), 22-bed NICU and supporting services across the hospital.
- Participating in in-patient service coverage and departmental on-call responsibilities.
- Actively contributing to educational and scholarly activities, serving as a role model for undergraduate medical students and pediatric residents.
- Helping foster an environment that supports patient safety, quality improvement research, and innovation across the pediatric program.
What you bring to Our Team:
We are seeking a highly qualified individual who is dedicated to patient care and academic engagement:
- Must possess an MD or equivalent degree.
- Subspecialty certification in Pediatric Endocrinology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is mandatory.
- Eligibility for licensing in the Province of Ontario is required.
- English language proficiency is required.
- A commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues in General Pediatrics, NICU, Family Medicine, Emergency, and Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Why Windsor-Essex?
The Windsor-Essex area is ecologically rich with extensive parkland, along with a southwest location that extends warm weather activities such as golfing, gardening, and water sports. Windsor offers the unique opportunities of a larger metropolitan area and the benefits of a smaller community. Living directly across the border from Detroit, Michigan, places you on a cosmopolitan stage where arts, culture, big league sports, and entertainment are just moments away. Best of all, you can enjoy access to all of these big-city advantages while living in the relative tranquility (and low costs) of a much smaller, friendlier community.
