The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) – Regina is seeking an exceptional Pediatrician to join our dynamic and growing Pediatrics department. This full-time opportunity offers a diverse and rewarding practice that includes inpatient pediatric care, outpatient pediatric clinics in Regina, and the delivery of pediatric services to First Nations children living on reserve. The successful candidate will also dedicate up to 0.6 FTE to the Child and Youth Maltreatment Assessment Program (CYMAP), Saskatchewan's provincial child maltreatment program. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team with clinicians based in both Regina and Saskatoon, the physician will coordinate and complete child maltreatment assessments. This position offers competitive remuneration under the Academic Clinical Funding Plan (ACFP).Call responsibilities are negotiated to ensure appropriate clinical coverage while supporting a healthy work-life balance. Currently, pediatricians participate in approximately 2–5 overnight calls per month and 3–6 weeks of service annually on the Pediatric Teaching Unit (PTU). CYMAP call responsibilities include local daytime coverage and approximately 3–5 overnight or weekend provincial calls per month. Remuneration for on-call is paid separately through the
Specialist Emergency Coverage Program (SECP).The Department of Pediatrics in Regina offers a collaborative, multidisciplinary practice environment that includes General Pediatricians, a Developmental Pediatrician, a Pediatric Nephrologist, a Pediatric Respirologist, and a Pediatric Clinical Immunologist and Allergist. The department is also supported by two Pediatric Emergency Physicians and two Pediatric Surgeons, with recruitment underway for an additional Pediatric Emergency Physician and a third Pediatric Surgeon joining in the near future. The Pediatric Teaching Unit accommodates up to 26 beds, including four high-acuity beds, and provides care for approximately 2,600 children annually. The unit has been recognized multiple times as the "Most Learner Friendly Unit" by the Regina Campus of the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. Regina is also home to a 25-bed tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staffed by five Neonatologists. In addition, some pediatricians provide care for children with complex developmental needs at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. Children requiring pediatric intensive care are stabilized locally before being transferred to the provincial Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Saskatoon.The Saskatchewan Health Authority is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents through the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. Physicians are eligible for faculty appointments with the College of Medicine and are expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as continuing medical education. The department supports ongoing professional development through weekly Pediatric Grand Rounds delivered by telehealth from Saskatoon, in addition to monthly local Pediatric Education and Quality Improvement rounds. The successful candidate will play an active role in the academic mission of the Department of Pediatrics while contributing to high-quality patient care across southern Saskatchewan.The start date for this position is negotiable. Certified or eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) in Pediatrics and be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and current criminal record check with vulnerable sectorCurrent Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage or equivalent Legal entitlement to work in CanadaThis individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to the provision of high quality patient and family-centered care.Previous experience in the field of child maltreatment pediatrics would be a valuable asset.
