Full Time Physiatrist Practice Opportunity

Health Sciences North (HSN) is seeking a dedicated Physiatrist to join our Department of Medicine. As the tertiary referral centre for Northeastern Ontario, serving a population of over 600,000 residents in the region, HSN offers a broad, stimulating practice environment with the ability to make a regional impact.

Position Overview

• Provide comprehensive outpatient physiatry care across neurological, musculoskeletal, amputee, pain, and complex medical populations.
• Participate in HSN’s 30-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) for patients with stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, orthopaedic trauma, amputation, and complex functional impairments.
• Contribute to specialized outpatient programs: Neurological Rehab, Brain Injury Rehab, Prosthetics/Orthotics, Seating & Mobility, WSIB Specialty Clinics, Physiotherapy, Hand & Upper Limb Rehab, Chronic Pain Program, Assisted Communication Clinic, Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab.
• Opportunity to perform and interpret EMG/NCS testing.
• Work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and provide consultative services across hospital programs and clinics.
• Obtain a faculty appointment with Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM-U) and participate in teaching, mentorship, and research opportunities through the HSN Research Institute (HSNRI).
• Compensation is provided through direct fee-for-service billings to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Candidate Requirements

• Eligible for licensure in Ontario.
• Certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (FRCPC or American Board).
• Interest in outpatient physiatry and inpatient rehabilitation, including participation in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.
• Skills in performing/interpreting EMG/NCS studies (considered an asset but not required)
• Commitment to teamwork, patient-centered care, and clinical excellence.
