The Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) are seeking to recruit a 0.8 FTE Academic Psychiatrist to support the Schizophrenia Division. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher and must be eligible for a full-time academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Toronto. The effective start date is December 2025, or a mutually agreeable date shortly thereafter.
CAMH is Canada’s premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorders, offering a wide spectrum of care, from treatment for the first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research-intensive university in Canada.
The successful candidates must hold an MD degree or equivalent degree. Applicants must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
As a full-time staff member at CAMH, the candidate will provide on-call services as part of their clinical responsibilities. The successful candidate will provide exemplary outpatient team-based psychiatric care for people experiencing the early stages of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders. The successful candidate will have excellent clinical psychiatry skills, as well as a demonstrated excellence in working as a member of multi-disciplinary teams. Experience working in early psychosis services and providing coordinated specialty care is required. Given the integrated clinical research environment and academic mission of CAMH and the Slaight Centre, an established track record of supporting clinical research in schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders, demonstrated through involvement in clinical research studies and trials, supporting recruitment, enrollment, and medical management of research participants, and related research publications in this population, is required. Experience with treatment resistant schizophrenia and the utilization of clozapine in outpatient settings is also required. A track record of successful leadership of clinical research services for individuals with schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders is also required. The incumbent will have a desire to work in and contribute to an active academic environment, with a commitment and experience in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Additional experience in creative professional activity and quality improvement are an asset.
This is a full-time permanent role and remuneration is in accordance with the compensation of a psychiatrist in the province of Ontario ranging from $233,872 - $263,993 per year partially based on fee for service earnings in addition to income from the Alternate Funding Plan and other sources of income.
