Job Description
Overview
The University Health Network Centre for Mental Health, a University of Toronto (U of T) teaching hospital, is seeking applicants for the Dalglish Chair in 22q.11.2 Deletion Syndrome. The Chair was funded by Camilla (Weston) and Peter Dalglish in honour of their beloved daughter Genny (Genevieve) to promote integrated clinical care and research positively impacting the lives of patients with 22.q.11.2 Deletion Syndrome and their families. The Chair is part of pioneering philanthropy in this area. The term of the Chair position is 5 years with the opportunity for one 5-year renewal following a successful review.
UHN’s 22q.11.2 Deletion Syndrome Clinic, originally known as the Dalglish Family Hearts and Minds Clinic or the 22q Clinic, is the first of its kind in the world to focus on adults with 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS or 22q). The Clinic serves as an international model of adult care for individuals with this genetic syndrome. The Clinic provides person-centered care to individuals who are at least 17 years of age, and their families, from specialists in the fields of cardiology, endocrinology, medical psychiatry, psychosis, neurology, genetics, social work and nutrition. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for people with 22q and their families. The clinic's world-leading research involves over 400 patients with 22q and their families.
The Chair will focus on research building capacity or educational scholarship and team building. The Chair will provide mentorship and support for junior faculty. Modeling collaboration with senior and junior colleagues, the Chair will help to foster cohesion and integration within the UHN 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome Clinic and with other Center for Mental Health clinics, leadership, and staff as well as with experts in schizophrenia and neurodevelopmental disorders at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must already hold, or be eligible for, a full-time clinical (MD or PhD) or status-only academic appointment within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. If a practicing clinician, they must hold or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. They must also have a strong background in, and track record of, mentorship and research or scholarly productivity in the area of 22q11.2 deletion syndrome and/or neurodevelopmental disorders.
Compensation
The Chair holder’s remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Chair will be based at the University Health Network, and if the Chair holder is a clinician (MD), they are expected to become a member of the UHN Psychiatry Association and will be entitled to additional support commensurate with academic and clinical activities.
