Job Description
This position is part of Recovery Alberta, supporting our ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services across the province.
Addiction Medicine, Edmonton
An exciting position with a specialized focus in addiction medicine currently exists within Recovery Alberta. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to individuals with substance use disorders, offering immediate access to evidence-informed addiction treatment.

The Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital will be an entry point for individuals with substance use disorders, offering immediate access to evidence-informed addiction treatment. Recovery Alberta will provide daily access to comprehensive addiction assessment, medical withdrawal management/pharmacotherapy, and care planning.
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide medical services including assessments, follow-up care, treatment planning/referrals, ordering lab & imaging tests, writing/reviewing prescriptions, and treatment of co-occurring substance use disorders.
The successful candidate should be or apply for an Academic appointment with the University of Alberta or the University of Calgary Psychiatry Department and help with teaching Residents and students that come to the area.
Multiple positions up to 1.4 FTE based on availability.

Reporting Relationship:
The practitioner will report to the Addiction Services Provincial Medical Director, Outpatient Services.
Term:
Start July 1, 2026

will hold a methadone license.
Experience with addictions, opioid dependency and an ability to effectively manage patients in crisis are definite assets.
Physicians who currently hold addiction medicine certification, have relevant training or have a keen interest in learning addiction medicine are encouraged to express interest.
