Job Description

REPOST: ACADEMIC CARDIOLOGIST (RISK FACTOR MANAGEMENT)

Department of Medicine, McMaster University

The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University and the Lipid and Risk Factor Services at Hamilton Health Sciences invite applications for an Academic Cardiologist (Risk Factor Management).

This is a full-time faculty position for a period of three years (renewable) in the "Special" Appointment Category. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Division of Cardiology and will be expected to contribute to the academic mission of the Faculty and Division. The successful candidate should have appropriate fellowship training and will be expected to fully participate in all appropriate departmental and divisional educational activities.

Candidates must have completed specialty training in Cardiology and additional training in lipid and risk factor management. Experience in clinical trial recruitment is advantageous. The role involves being a clinician educator, so previous teaching experience is preferred. Responsibilities include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as training for those rotating through the lipid and prevention clinics. The candidate is expected to develop an educational program to support their promotion within the Department of Medicine and contribute to existing programs at McMaster University, such as clinical trial recruitment. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with all healthcare team members, including non-physician providers.

Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
