Description:
Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9), Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), and The University of Manitoba, and Department of Surgery (business addresses noted below), are inviting applications for a Spine Neurosurgeon to commence on September 1, 2025 (or on a date mutually agreed upon). Main job duties include diagnose and treatment of diseases, prescribing medications and treatment, ordering lab tests and other diagnostic procedures, consulting with other physicians as required, which job duties encompass 75% of the position.
The successful candidate would also be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher depending on current academic rank), and appointed as a geographical full-time member of the Max Rady College of Medicine, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, which job duties encompasses 25% of the position. Job duties are required in English.
The position encompasses inpatient and ambulatory patient care responsibility and requires individuals with clinical and teaching skills to further the aims of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and tertiary care medicine. The Program incorporates a rich mix of emergent and elective Neurosurgery. The Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg provides comprehensive Neurosurgical care to a population base of 1.5 million people.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine Degree with specialization in Neurosurgery. Certification in Neurosurgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada is preferred. Fellowship training or equivalent experience in spinal neurosurgery is required. The selected candidate will be an addition to a current group of 11 full time neurosurgeons. Clinical research is an expectation and the development of a dedicated research program a candidate with a strong research interest is a possibility.
Compensation:
Compensation is a mix of fee-for-service income and funding as per the Doctor’s Manitoba agreement.
