Job Description
Job Description:
North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is seeking a physician, with experience providing addictions medicine, to join its Substance Use Disorders (SUDS) Team. The focus of the team is to provide clear, consistent, and appropriate addiction medicine treatment to NBRHC patients, regardless of the time of the patient's arrival, primary reason for presentation, or location within the hospital/hospital sites.
The SUDS Team provides weekday addiction medicine consultation services to the hospital's Emergency Department, IP medical & surgical units, as well as MRP care to the hospital-based Withdrawal Management Services (WMS), and MRP care to the Community Withdrawal Management Services (CWMS), in collaboration with the CWMS Nurse Practitioner. Future growth of the program will include an after hours on-call service.
Consultation addiction medicine services are provided in collaboration with the most responsible physician/provider of the respective patient. The SUDS Team follows patients for addictions treatment despite where they are admitted within the hospital as clinically indicated or until such time as discharge.
Members of the SUDS Team are responsible to complete patient care plans and relevant assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, order medications used to manage withdrawal from substances, initiate evidence based anti-craving medications, and support clients in out-patient addictions programs i.e. day/eve treatment
