About West Lincoln Memorial Hospital

On November 24, 2025, Hamilton Health Sciences proudly opened the new state-of-the-art West Lincoln Memorial Hospital (WLMH) to better serve the growing West Niagara community. As a community hospital, WLMH offers inpatient and outpatient services, including:

·        Surgery

·        Emergency care

·        Complex and palliative care

·        Maternal and newborn programs

As part of Hamilton Health Sciences, WLMH also provides access to one of Canada’s largest health systems for patients requiring specialized care.

About the Surgical Assistant Opportunity

To support the expanded surgical capacity, the Surgical Assistant Team is growing and seeking fully licensed Family Medicine Physicians to provide coverage starting May 2026, with earlier start dates available.

•                   Coverage: Flexible # of shifts/month

•                   Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

•                   Coming soon: Evening, overnight call on Tuesdays and Thursdays

•                   No weekend coverage required

•                   Procedures: Elective and day surgeries (general surgery, orthopaedics, arthroscopy, plastics, spine, breast, gynecology, occasional C-section) across two operating rooms. There is capacity for a third operating room to come online in the near future

Compensation

Remuneration via Fee-for-Service billing.

Requirements

•                   Independent license to practice Family Medicine in Ontario

•                   Available to start May 2026

•                   Previous surgical assistant experience is an asset (not required)
