Seeking Thoracic Surgery Hospitalist Physician in Ottawa
The Division of Thoracic Surgery at the Ottawa Hospital is a world class, nationally and internationally renowned, center of excellence for thoracic surgery care, research, quality improvement and education. The Division is currently seeking a hospitalist physician to join as a member of our surgical team and contribute to the care and management of our patients alongside residents, fellows and attending staff. The principal role of this new member of our team would be to provide surgical assist, in addition to providing services on call.
Practice: Surgical assist and call for an academic thoracic surgical practice (3 weekdays of surgical assist per week), and call (1 weekday and night of call per week; night call is performed from home).
Location: The Ottawa Hospital (General Campus)
Employment type: Full time (e.g. surgical assist Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, call Thursday night until 8 AM, post call Friday; open to flexible schedule arrangements)
Call Frequency: One night per week, home call which includes both inpatient periop care + surgical assist for urgent cases
Start Date: July 1, 2024
Remuneration: Fee for service (OHIP schedule of benefits)
On-call stipend + Fee for service (OHIP schedule of benefits)
Documentation: EPIC EMR (training will be provided)
What are we looking for in a new team member:
· An individual who is trustworthy, reliable, and committed to excellent patient care
· Someone who is detail-oriented, works assiduously, and is an excellent collaborator
· Someone who can integrate and contribute to our high functioning world-class team
· Independent licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
· Active Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage (CMPA) in good standing
· Trained in Family (CCFP), Emergency or Internal Medicine (FRCPC), or Surgery (FRCSC)
· Excellent English language communication skills; French would be an asset
The successful candidate will contribute to patient care as a member of the thoracic surgery team, co-managed alongside the staff thoracic surgeons, their residents, physician assistant and nurse practitioner, and all other members of the thoracic surgery care team.
