Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a highly skilled and team-oriented Vascular Surgeon to join its Department of Surgery in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The candidate is responsible for diagnosing and treating vascular conditions through both open and endovascular procedures, including aneurysm repair (open, EVAR, TEVAR), peripheral revascularization (including thrombolysis), carotid surgery, renal access, trauma management, and treatment of varicose veins. Responsibilities also include interpreting vascular imaging, providing comprehensive pre- and post-operative care, participating in on-call duties, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring compliance with SHA standards and provincial regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate interdisciplinary competence through active participation in multidisciplinary rounds and must show a commitment to patient safety, clinical excellence, and teamwork. An active interest in research and a desire to contribute to the ongoing development of the division’s academic and research activities are also expected.

The successful candidate will be eligible for on-call payments consistent with the Specialist Emergency Coverage Program. Call coverage is a mandatory aspect of this position.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. Members of the department are eligible for appointment to the faculty of the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, and take part in academic services, including teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate learners.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Infectious Diseases and be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. Preference will be given to candidates with Royal College designation in Infectious Diseases.

This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.
