ACADEMIC POSITION – ADULT RESPIROLOGY (INTERSTITIAL LUNG DISEASES)

 

The Department of Medicine, Division of Respirology, Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University and London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre are seeking a full-time Respirologist/ Clinician Researcher with expertise in Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD).  

 

ABOUT THE DIVISION:

The Division of Respirology currently has 12 members and is well-recognized and respected both nationally and internationally.  The Division’s physicians provide specialty and sub-specialty care for a large catchment area in southwestern Ontario.  The Division has a fully certified Royal College Subspecialty Training Program in Adult Respirology.  The current ILD program is supported by expertise in Thoracic Surgery, Radiology and Pathology and holds regular multidisciplinary meetings to support patient care needs.  The Division is committed to excellence in research, education, and clinical innovation aligned with the strategic goals of the Department of Medicine and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

The successful candidate will have completed training in Adult Respirology and subspecialty training in interstitial lung diseases. Applicants should be certified, or eligible for certification, in Respirology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent, and must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) in the province of Ontario. The successful candidate will hold a limited term academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a continuing academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor depending on qualifications and experience. ACADEMIC AND CLINICAL EXPECTATIONS:

The successful candidate will join a busy academic practice and will be expected to contribute towards the Division’s mission of excellence in patient care, education and research. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team in the management of patients with interstitial lung disease and will be expected to provide comprehensive care for patients with ILD in collaboration with Thoracic Surgery, Radiology and Pathology through regular MDD rounds.  Furthermore, the successful candidate will also have a commitment to and demonstrated aptitude for research in ILD and will foster local, provincial and national research collaborations.  The successful candidate will be expected to hold independent peer-reviewed funding and lead an independent research program in interstitial lung diseases.  There will be additional expectations to provide teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels through Divisional and Departmental academic educational activities.  The successful candidate will participate in city-wide call, bronchoscopy and general respirology clinics.  

COMPENSATION DETAILS: Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be primarily composed of the following sources: Fee for service (OHIP billings), Alternative Funding Plan, academic salary, and specialty review funding.
