General Surgeons - Acute Care Surgery
Department of Surgery
The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at SHN is seeking a new Acute Care Surgeon to join a team of dedicated general surgeons and staff. The successful candidate will be working with a strong, supportive and collegial group of colleagues in a three-site community hospital organization committed to providing high quality, comprehensive clinical services. As SHN is affiliated with the University of Toronto, the successful candidate will be expected to apply for an appointment with the University of Toronto Department of Surgery and be involved with teaching at SHN.
ACS surgeons will be rotating through all 3 SHN sites and will be responsible for providing surgical care of Emergency patients as well as inpatients from other hospital departments as required. Dedicated OR and clinic time will be provided on a weekly basis to the ACS service. Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be willing to work within interdisciplinary teams. Experience in Quality Improvement is also an asset.
The successful candidate must be registered or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and have successfully completed a residency in General Surgery with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Emphasis will be placed on candidates with experience working in a community hospital setting with strong communication skills.
