Overview

Our client delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents.They are recruiting a full time or part-time Anesthetist to join their collegial department of 10 that provides 24/7 coverage for 4 OR’s, an endoscopy suite and a busy labour and delivery unit. There is the opportunity to do supplemental work in family practice, emergency medicine, surgical assisting or chronic pain, if desired. 

The 105-bed full service community hospital provides an array of diagnostic laboratory services including Nuclear Medicine, CT and MRI. Full specialist support includes; a Hospitalist Program, Anaesthesia, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ob/Gyn, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Orthopedics, Physiatry and Urology.

Our client is a referral hospital supporting smaller hospitals in the area. They are a designated District Stroke Center and they have a 9 bed ICU that is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of intensivists, nurses, physicians, and respiratory therapists; as well as access to social workers, speech, occupational and physiotherapists. They have a well established referral protocol with local tertiary care centers

Remuneration: Remuneration would be based on fee-for-service and on call stipend through the Hospital On Call Coverage Program (HOCC). Additional grant funding is available through the Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative.

Position Requirements:

• Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and

Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) 

•  CCFP - with Anaesthesia Scope OR Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – FRCP(C)
• US Board Certified Physician are eligible for independent license in Ontario
• Physicians with Royal College Approved Jurisdiction eligibility eligible for a supervised license with the CPSO.
• Physicians that have successfully completed the RCPSC specialty examination via the RCPSC Practice Eligibility Route and hold the MCCQE1 exam are eligible for a supervised license with the CPSO.
• Experience working with teams and possessing strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
