Job Description

Alberta Health Services (AHS) - South Sector Medical Affairs is seeking an Associate Corridor Medical Lead (ACML) at Chinook Regional Hospital.

The estimated time commitment is [0.40 - 0.80 FTE].

In accordance with AHS’s mission and values, in general, and not limited to, the Contractor will complete all duties and responsibilities pursuant to the Medical Staff Bylaws Section 2.4.2

  • The Contractor’s attendance is expected at meetings of the Medical Leadership team for the South Corridors and those prescribed in the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws and the Rules.

  • The Corridor Clinical Department Leads for the Chinook Regional Hospital of the Southwest Corridor are accountable to the Contractor.

The Contractor will lead, support and collaborate with the Corridor Clinical Department Leads at the Chinook Regional Hospital, on such matters as:

  • accountability for practitioner-related matters, as well as operational decisions requiring practitioner input or leadership, that arise within the facility and/or community;

  • ensuring the Medical Staff are in compliance with the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws and the Rules;

  • facilitating conflict resolution and problem solving for matters involving the Medical Staff in the facility and/or community;

  • advancing the perspective, advice and resource requirements of the Medical Staff providing services in the facility and/or community;

  • advocating for the provision of high quality and safe patient care in the facility and/or community;

  • performing all duties assigned to them in the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws and the Rules; and

  • performing all duties as may be delegated by the Zone Medical Director.

 

A minimum of eligibility for medical, dental or podiatric licensure in Alberta, including certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Royal College of Dentists of Canada or an equivalent professional body. At least 5 years' leadership experience in health care operations including three years' experience in a senior leadership role in clinical services or healthcare operations.

Specific Leadership and collaboration skills:

  • Project and change management skills;
  • Ability to organize self and team members;
  • Ability to engage with and manage physician leaders;
  • Ability to inspire and influence clinicians and operations;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication at the clinical and administrative level;
  • Respected thought leader among clinicians;
  • An excellent understanding of clinical business processes and workflows. Experience or knowledge about LEAN or equivalent methodologies preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

Successful record of achievement as a physician leader, including extensive experience in physician leadership development and service delivery in a large and diverse organization. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, client focused orientation and commitment to providing long term quality services. The ability to foster partnerships and achieve organizational goals within a large and complex organization.
