Health Sciences North (HSN) is recruiting a dedicated and motivated Adult Hematologist with a focus on benign (non-malignant) hematology to join our growing Department of Medicine. As the tertiary referral centre for all of Northeastern Ontario, serving a catchment population of over 600,000 residents, HSN provides a broad and varied practice environment with meaningful impact.

What the Position Involves

Delivering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for a broad range of benign hematologic conditions, including anemia, coagulation disorders, hemoglobinopathies (such as sickle cell disease and thalassemia), bleeding disorders, thrombophilia, and transfusion-related needs.
Participating in HSN’s fully supported Hemoglobinopathy and Thrombosis clinics.
Collaborating closely with HSN’s advanced laboratory services - hematology, transfusion medicine, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and molecular diagnostics to support high-quality patient care.
Working within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team to provide consultative services across the hospital and broader community.
Obtaining a faculty appointment with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM-U) and contributing to the academic mission of the Department of Medicine.
Engaging in research opportunities available through the Health Sciences North Research Institute (HSNRI).

Candidate requirements / ideal profile

Eligible for licensure in Ontario.
Specialty qualification in Internal Medicine and Hematology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent.
Obtain faculty appointment with NOSM-University and participate in advancing the academic mandate of the Department of Medicine.
