Job Description
The Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) Division of Cardiology is seeking a dedicated General Cardiologist with specialized training in Pacemaker implantation/management and/or Electrophysiology (EP) to join our thriving team. As the Regional Cardiac Centre for the Erie St. Clair region, we serve a catchment area of over 400,000 residents, providing essential, life-saving cardiac care. We offer a comprehensive, modern environment that includes a busy cardiac echocardiography lab and advanced services in nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT. While our team supports a high-volume cardiac catheterization lab, this specific position is designed to balance a general cardiology practice with a dedicated focus on pacemaker procedures.
Why Choose Cardiology at WRH?
- You will balance a robust general cardiology practice with the opportunity to utilize your specialized pacemaker and/or EP skills in a dedicated clinical setting.
- We provide up-to-date facilities, including a busy cardiac echocardiography lab and comprehensive nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT services.
- Work alongside a collegial, multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, specialized cardiac nurses, and technicians dedicated to patient safety.
- Enjoy the unique advantages of the Windsor-Essex region, which offers the cosmopolitan benefits of a border city-with proximity to Detroit’s arts, culture, and sports-coupled with the tranquility and lower costs of a friendly, smaller community.
- The Cardiology Program is integral to the major reform of the Windsor-Essex Hospitals System, including the development of a state-of-the-art acute care hospital.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Maintain a general cardiology clinical practice, providing consultation and follow-up care for a diverse patient population.
- Perform pacemaker procedures and provide device management as a primary clinical focus.
- Provide consultation services to the Emergency Department and inpatient units.
- Collaborate closely with the broader cardiology team to ensure optimal patient flow and continuity of care.
- Support the academic mission of the department by participating in the supervision and teaching of medical trainees.
What You Bring to Our Team:
- Specialized training and documented proficiency in Pacemaker implantation/management and/or Electrophysiology (EP) is required.
- Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Certification (or eligibility) in Cardiology/Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Proven experience in a high-volume center with proficiency in managing high-acuity cardiac patients.
- Experience in transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) will be considered an additional asset.
