Job Description
Description:
The Department of Medicine, in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, invite applications for a Tenure Track (contingent) appointment as a clinician researcher in the Division of Respirology at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will be a member of the O’Brien Institute of Public Health.
The department is looking to recruit an academic respirologist to join the work currently underway within the Division of Respirology in the area of interstitial lung disease (ILD). Specifically, we are looking to recruit a clinician researcher with a research focus in health services research and ILD. This recruitment would help support CSM to become an internationally recognized Centre of Excellence in ILD.
We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, across the Calgary Corridor. We are an equal opportunity employer. AHS values the diversity of the people and communities we serve and is committed to attracting, engaging, and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Qualifications:
Qualifications include an MD, a specialist certificate in Internal Medicine and Respirology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent), and eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. An advanced research degree such as an MSc is required. The position provides 60% protected time for research and will also include clinical service and teaching at all levels of medical education. This is an excellent opportunity to develop an independent externally-funded research program within an outstanding collaborative environment.
Applicants must present evidence of early success as a clinician researcher in the area of ILD, as demonstrated through early academic productivity in terms of research presentations and publications. Evidence of successful teaching and/or research student supervision would be an asset. Evidence of collaborations with other researchers and academic engagement in professional and other communities will be assessed.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.
