Job Description
Ottawa, ON | Part-time, independent contractor | Start: November 2026
About the role
A new outpatient neuromodulation clinic opening in Ottawa is seeking a psychiatrist to serve as Supervising Physician on a contract basis.
In collaboration with an established neuromodulation platform, the clinic delivers EEG-guided repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) using individualized, qEEG-informed treatment protocols. Full training will be provided by our partner's clinical team. No prior neuromodulation experience required.
You will hold overall clinical accountability for treatment, approve and advise on individualized protocols, and provide medical oversight of on-site staff and clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Initial psychiatric assessment and treatment eligibility screening
- Contraindication review, including seizure risk, ferromagnetic implants, and medication interactions
- Reviewing qEEG-derived individualized protocols and approving treatment parameters
- Monitoring patients across the treatment course
- Overseeing adverse event response and follow-up, including treatment modifications
- Refining clinic protocols, screening criteria, and safety procedures as the program matures
- Approximately 2-8 hours per week including seeing patients, chart review, protocol review, meetings, and administrative work
Role structure
Primarily remote. Most patient contact and clinical work is conducted virtually, in line with CPSO's Virtual Care policy.
Requirements
- Certificate of Registration authorizing independent practice with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, in good standing
- RCPSC certification in psychiatry
- Current CMPA membership, with a type of work classification that covers outpatient neuromodulation and virtual care
- Ability to see patients located in Ontario
What We Offer
- Contract role with flexible, predictable hours
- Competitive compensation
- Full training in EEG-guided rTMS and qEEG-informed protocol design by our partner clinic
