The community of Esterhazy, located in South East Network 5, is looking for a family physician to join their team. This permanent full time position works primarily out of a group practise in Esterhazy. The medical clinic is modern, well organized and fully equipped. On call coverage at St. Anthony's hospital emergency room is required on a rotational basis and services may also be provided to the local long term care home and surrounding communities within the area, with the opportunity to participate in the Yorkton Regional Hospital Emergency Room service rotation.

Esterhazy is a vibrant community located in the east central part of the province of Saskatchewan, with a population of over 2,500 and services a trading area of approximately 10,000 people. The Town of Esterhazy is about a one hour drive from the City of Yorkton and is nicknamed the Potash Capital of the World.

Family physicians may consult with and/or make referrals to specialists at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre which currently provides the following specialty services: obstetrics & gynecology, general surgery, Medical Health Officer, radiology, anesthesiology, pediatrician, psychiatry and internal medicine.

The successful candidate may be eligible for:

The Rural Physician Incentive Program which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practising, or returning to practise, in rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan

The SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practise in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year for fulltime work.

Qualifications:

Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada

Regular or provisional licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (or eligible to be licensed)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Recommended - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Valid driver’s licence

Successful Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector

Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage

Legal entitlement to work in Canada

Call Schedule:

24-hour on-call emergency coverage is required for the emergency room, hospital inpatients, home care and long-term care residents, as well as for critical lab values. Currently, the on-call responsibilities are shared equitably among physicians in the community.
