Job Description
About the Opportunity
Step into a fully established family practice — no roster building, no cold start.
A respected Tillsonburg family physician is retiring after decades of service, and their complete, well-managed patient roster is available to the incoming physician from day one. This is a rare succession opportunity: a ready-made full-scope practice, strong income potential from the outset, and a community that is genuinely ready to welcome you.
Practice Details
· Established FHO practice opportunity with roster transition. More details available through a confidential discussion
· EMR platform, overhead arrangement, clinic hours, office and exam room availability can be reviewed with interested candidates
· Administrative and clinic support are in place to help the incoming physician transition smoothly
· Start date and handover timing are flexible and can be coordinated with the physician and clinic team
Financial Package
· Municipal recruitment incentive of $30,000 for clinic-based family practice, increasing up to $65,000 for physicians who also provide coverage at RRHS, under the Town’s Shared Physician Recruitment Model
· Strong income potential with a full inherited roster — the opportunity begins with established patient volume rather than a gradual multi-year ramp-up
· Residency requirement of within 50 km of Tillsonburg — live in town, in the countryside, or in a neighboring community
· Relocation guidance, community tours, and settlement support coordinated by the Town’s dedicated physician recruitment team
· Internationally trained physicians are welcome. Eligible candidates may qualify through recognized CPSO and CFPC pathways, and current federal immigration pathways may support eligible medical doctors. The Town can help candidates navigate next steps with the appropriate licensing and immigration resources.
Why Tillsonburg
Tillsonburg is a growing Southwestern Ontario community — large enough to offer everything you need, small enough that your work visibly matters.
• Genuine community impact: your patients are your neighbors, and the town actively invests in its physicians — recruitment and retention are a standing Council priority with dedicated funding
• Location: 20 minutes from Highway 401, under an hour to London, Stratford, and the Lake Erie shoreline at Port Dover; easy reach of Kitchener-Waterloo and Brantford
• Affordability: housing costs well below the GTA and London — own a detached home on a physician’s income without compromise
• Lifestyle: a vibrant historic downtown, Lake Lisgar Waterpark, an extensive trail network, golf, and a full calendar of community events
• Families: safe neighborhoods, strong schools, minor sports, and a welcoming small-town culture that makes integration fast
• A collegial medical community: established local physicians, an engaged hospital, and a regional recruitment alliance across Oxford County working to strengthen primary care together
Qualifications
• MD or equivalent, with certification or eligibility for certification in Family Medicine through the CFPC
• Licensed, or eligible for licensure, with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), including UK and other internationally trained physicians on recognized pathways
• Commitment to comprehensive, longitudinal primary care and to serving the Tillsonburg community
• CMPA membership or eligibility required prior to practice start
