Job Duties:

Reporting to the Hospitalist Medicine Department Head and the Medical Director for the Miramichi region, the Hospitalist Medicine Physician collaborates with other Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered, Nurses, and other Allied Medical Staff to provide:

• Comprehensive inpatient care to family medicine patients admitted to our institution or transferred from specialty services including comprehensive admission orders, admission history and physicals, appropriate investigations and consultation requests and daily progress notes.
• On-site patient care responsibilities aligned with the Department.
• Share on-call responsibilities with the team of hospitalists.
• Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values, and strategic directions.
• Other duties that may arise by circumstance and may be assigned by the Department of Hospitalist Medicine.

Remuneration:

Sessional

Remuneration is by a sessional rate arrangement as outlined in the New Brunswick Physicians’ Manual. No source deductions can be provided.

Qualifications:

• A medical degree is required;
• Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada is preferred. Consideration will be given to other university medical school qualifications and training;
• Eligible for unsupervised licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
• Proficiency in English; bilingual skills would be considered an asset;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills;
• Good attendance and work record.

Incentives:

$100,000.00 accompanied by a 4 year return of service.

Relocation reimbursement of up to $8,000.

About the Facility:

Horizon’s Miramichi Regional Hospital is situated in the northeastern part of New Brunswick in the city of Miramichi.

The hospital provides health care services to the city of Miramichi and its surrounding communities, which have broad roots in Irish and Scottish descent, and includes four vibrant Francophone communities and three progressive First Nation communities covering a catchment population of 46,000.

The hospital is a partner of the Dalhousie New Brunswick Distributed Medical Education Program and was the inaugural site for the Dalhousie Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship Program, an innovative 48-week clinical experience for third year medical students which has since expanded to include other sites in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The hospital also supports the clinical experience of nursing, therapeutic and diagnostic students.

The hospital offers a full complement of health care services, including General Surgery, Urology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and Oncology services. A large variety of ambulatory care services are also provided including a Healthy Kids Pediatric Ambulatory Care program.

The facility is home to state-of-the-art Diagnostic Equipment, including a 64-slice CT scanner and Accredited Digital Mammogram machines. A new ambulatory oncology clinic opened in 2017, and a new Geriatric Program opened in 2018.
