Lakeridge Health is seeking a locum Family Practice Anesthesia physician to join our growing, high-impact team at our Port Perry site primarily with opportunity to work at other Lakeridge sites.  This is an opportunity to build a meaningful clinical practice within a large, multi-site hospital system while contributing to medical education, system improvement, and the evolution of a community-based academic health system grounded in high-quality, equitable care.

The Opportunity 

We are recruiting a locum Family Practice Anesthesia or interested Royal College certified Anesthesiologist Physician: 

The role may include: 

  • Clinical care in outpatient preoperative clinics, xxx and operating room time 
  • Participation in on-call / weekend coverage  
  • Collaboration within a multi-site, interprofessional care environment, with opportunities for cross-coverage in other hospital sites  
  • Participation in quality improvement, program development, and system transformation  
  • Teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and other learners  
  • Opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and academic engagement over time

Qualifications 

Required 

Applicants must: 

  • Hold, or be eligible for, independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)  
  • Be certified, or eligible for certification, in Anesthesiology or Family Medicine with Anesthesiology certification 
  • Be eligible for hospital privileges at Lakeridge Health  
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and communication skills  
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality, patient-centred, and equitable care  
  • Work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment  

 

Preferred / Assets 

Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate: 

  • Interest or experience in medical education, teaching, or preceptorship  
  • Interest or experience in quality improvement or program development  
  • Experience in multi-site or high-volume clinical environments  
  • Interest in leadership, mentorship, or academic program development  

Support for Internationally Trained Physicians 

Lakeridge Health welcomes applications from internationally trained physicians who meet, or are eligible to meet, Ontario licensure and certification requirements for independent practice.  

Candidates must possess valid authorization to work in Canada, including Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid Canadian work permit.

  • Compensation model: OHIP fee for service and HOCC/BBOC where appropriate
