Job Description

650-Patient Panel | No Overhead | Team-Based Care | Purpose-Built Community Health Centre

Imagine practicing family medicine with the team you've always wanted.

What if you could:
• Manage a 650-patient panel instead of a much larger traditional practice.
• Practice alongside an experienced interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Focus on building meaningful, long-term relationships with your patients.
• Have no physician overhead.
• Work in a modern, purpose-built Community Health Centre.
• Help shape one of British Columbia's most innovative models of integrated primary care.

Our goal is simple: to create an environment where physicians can rediscover the joy of practicing family medicine while making a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients and communities they serve.

Located in Surrey's rapidly growing Health & Technology District, just minutes from Surrey Memorial Hospital, The Health Centre is a modern, purpose-built Community Health Centre that opened in September 2023.

Designed around one simple philosophy—patients achieve better outcomes when healthcare professionals work together—our Centre delivers comprehensive, trauma-informed, culturally safe, gender-responsive care for vulnerable women, children, and families who often experience complex medical, mental health, and social needs.

Surrey is one of British Columbia's fastest-growing communities and continues to experience significant investment in healthcare, education, research, and innovation, making it an exciting place to build a rewarding career in family medicine.

ABOUT OUR TEAM
At The Health Centre, physicians never work in isolation.
You'll be supported by a fully integrated interdisciplinary team that includes:
• Nurse Practitioners
• Registered Nurses
• Social Workers
• Clinical Counsellors
• Physiotherapists
• Occupational Therapists
• Kinesiologists
• Registered Dietitians
• Community Health Workers
• An integrated Dental Team

Together, we provide seamless access to primary care, mental health services, rehabilitation, wellness programming, nutrition services, dental care, and community support all under one roof.

When fully operational, our Community Health Centre will provide integrated, team-based care for approximately 3,725 attached patients, improving access to high-quality primary healthcare for one of British Columbia's fastest-growing communities.

THE OPPORTUNITY
We're growing and are always interested in connecting with exceptional physicians who are passionate about collaborative, patient-centred care.

Current opportunities include:
• Family Physicians (1.5 FTE – full-time and part-time opportunities available)
• Family Physician Locums (short-term, long-term, vacation, and ongoing opportunities)

Each full-time physician manages a panel of approximately 650 patients, allowing time to build meaningful patient relationships while delivering comprehensive longitudinal care.
Supported by experienced nursing, allied health professionals, and administrative staff, physicians can focus on clinical care while collaborating with a team that helps address their patients' medical, mental health, rehabilitation, and social needs.

Whether you're early in your career, relocating to British Columbia, looking for a more collaborative way to practice family medicine, or simply interested in locum opportunities within a supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.

WHY OUR MODEL WORKS
Family medicine is increasingly complex—but physicians shouldn't have to manage that complexity alone.
At The Health Centre, our interdisciplinary model means patients receive the right care from the right professional at the right time.

Physicians remain the clinical lead while working alongside skilled nurses, allied health professionals, and community health workers who help address the medical, mental health, rehabilitation, and social factors that influence health outcomes.
This collaborative approach allows physicians to focus on delivering exceptional longitudinal care while knowing their patients have access to the broader supports they need to thrive.

WHY PHYSICIANS CHOOSE THE HEALTH CENTRE
• 650-patient panel for each full-time physician
• No physician overhead
• Compensation through the BC Ministry of Health Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment

Model
• Modern, purpose-built clinic opened in 2023
• Fully integrated interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Strong Registered Nursing and Medical Office Assistant support
• Medical and dental services under one roof
• Shared-care model that supports physicians to practice at the top of their license
• Flexible full-time, part-time, and locum opportunities
• Collaborative culture that values innovation, quality improvement, and teamwork

SCOPE OF PRACTICE
The successful physician will provide comprehensive longitudinal family medicine consistent with the breadth and scope of community-based primary care.

Responsibilities include:
• Longitudinal primary care
• Prevention and health promotion
• Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic illness
• Women's health
• Pediatric care
• Care coordination within an interdisciplinary team
• Participation in quality improvement initiatives
• Opportunities to participate in teaching and clinical learning

Our goal is to ensure every patient feels safe, respected, valued, and supported while receiving exceptional primary healthcare.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must:
• Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
• Hold or be eligible for Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) coverage.
• Demonstrate a commitment to collaborative, patient-centred care.
• Experience working with vulnerable or underserved populations is considered an asset.

OUR COMMITMENT TO EQUITY
The Society is committed to creating an inclusive workplace.
Applications are encouraged from qualified women, Indigenous Peoples, Black and racialized individuals, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, persons with disabilities, and members of other equity-deserving groups.
This position will remain open until filled.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

TERMS
Opportunities Available

COME SEE THE DIFFERENCE
Choosing a new practice is one of the most important career decisions you'll make.

Whether you're interested in a permanent practice, part-time work, or locum opportunities, we'd be delighted to connect. Even if you're not actively looking for a new opportunity, we'd welcome the opportunity to introduce you to our team and show you how we're building one of British Columbia's most innovative models of integrated primary care.
