Job description:

Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) is currently recruiting 1 full time General Surgeon. Full time will include office practice, inpatient and outpatient care, elective surgeries and endoscopy, clinic time for minor procedures and on-call coverage. This general surgeon will join the current complement of 4 general surgeons with the opportunity to join a group practice model covering a broad range of surgical and endoscopic conditions.

PRH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents in the Upper Ottawa Valley. PRH is a full-service medium size community hospital located one and a half hours west of Ottawa and close to Algonquin Park. The hospital provides an array of diagnostic services including Nuclear Medicine, CT and MRI. The hospital is a designated District Stroke Center and has a busy emergency department, seeing 35,000 visits annually.

Inpatients are primarily cared for by a hospitalist program. Full specialist support is provided by Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, General Surgery, Ob/Gyn, Otolaryngology, Orthopedics, Urology, Ophthalmology and Psychiatry.

Pembroke Regional Hospital has a well-established referral protocol with local tertiary care centres in Ottawa. We regularly welcome 3rd year medical students for Clerkship rotations from University of Ottawa and oftenhave surgical residents on rotation with us. It is encouraged that applicants apply for Associate Lecturer appointment at University of Ottawa.

Position Requirements:

• Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

• Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – FRCSC in General Surgery

• Experience working with teams and possessing strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
