St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas and St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre in Brantford are seeking a medical leader, who lives the mission of ‘Unstoppable Compassion’ through their role as an integrated Medical Director of Long-Term Care across two campuses of care. This role would begin in February 2026. Across these two campuses, there are approximately 630 residents.
Position Summary
The Medical Director will lead and oversee all resident medical services at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas and St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre in Brantford. This role involves working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and the interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest standard of medical care, support quality improvement initiatives and uphold compliance with the Ministry of Long-Term Care regulations, while supporting the mission, vision and values of St. Josephs Health System.

Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership in the delivery of resident medical care, overseeing and supporting Attending Physicians
• Ensure weekly, in-person rounds by Attending Physicians are taking place and manage the on-call / vacation coverage to maintain continuous medical care for the residents as outlined in contracts
• Develop and communicate medical care standards, protocols and expectations to attending medical staff
• To offer and facilitate regular physician meetings to communicate on pertinent information to ensure care is being provided in a consistent manner across both campuses
• Lead approved quality improvement projects that focus on medical services and engage in interdisciplinary meetings, promoting resident-centered care
• Support ongoing education and training for clinical staff to enhance resident care
• Ensure annual mandatory education as communicated in the FLTCA regulations are completed by all physicians before year end
• Support and lead innovative models of care
• Work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered practical nurses and allied health professionals
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with all invested and interested parties (staff, volunteers, residents and families)
• Actively participate in MLTC inspections and accreditation surveys, responding to clinical queries and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Attend admission and annual care conferences and other relevant resident – focused meetings where appropriate
• Participate in various committees such as IPAC, HPAC, CQI and Medication Management
• Participate as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team
• Ensure all medical aspects of the FLTCHA 2021 are met and/or exceeded
• Ensure all attending physicians are entitled to practice and in good standing with the CPSO, and that contracts and site privileges are current.
Qualifications
• Medical practitioner licensed to practice in Ontario and a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• Experience as an Attending Physician in long-term care, with preference given to those with Medical Director experience
• Completion of, or willingness to complete, the Medical Director credentialing course (OLTCC) and active membership with OLTCC
• Strong understanding of the LTC regulatory standards with experience in quality improvement and interdisciplinary team collaboration
• Experience with Point Click Care (PCC), Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resident Assessment Instruments (RAI) is an asset
• A passion for caring and supporting those most vulnerable in our communities and those who call our campuses home
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and engage meaningfully with residents, families and the care team.
