Job Description
Located one and a half hours west of Ottawa on the shores of the Ottawa River close to Algonquin Park, the Pembroke Regional Hospital delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents in the Upper Ottawa Valley.
Pembroke Regional is a referral hospital supporting smaller hospitals in the Ottawa Valley. Our Hospital is a designated District Stroke Center with a 9 bed closed ICU that is staffed 24/7 by an Intensivist and multi-disciplinary team of nurses and respiratory therapists; as well as access to social workers, speech, occupational and physio therapists. We have a well established referral protocol with local tertiary care centres 1.5 hours away in Ottawa.
We envision growing our internal medicine program to include five general internists who will cover all inpatient and ED consults, and support the hospitalists and other specialists in the care of patients. In addition to this, will support a daily ambulatory clinic for follow up visits from ED and post discharge and provide on call coverage. The internal medicine specialists will share the interpretation of available diagnostic tests with potential for growth in the area of diagnostics with a full compliment of physicians to support the services.
Position Requirements
- Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – FRCP(C) in Internal Medicine
