Job Description
The Cornwall Community Hospital in Ontario is currently seeking a full time Ophthalmologist.
The main duties of this position would be to provide Ophthalmology specialist care to patients in the community, consultation to ER patients and patients admitted to the Cornwall Community Hospital. The consultant with order labatory tests, xrays and other diagnostic procedures. As a surgeon, the candidate will be performing and supervising surgical procedures to correct physical abnormalities and deficiencies including but not limited to cataract surgery.
The surgical equipment for Ophthalmology is fully up to date and an Ophthalmologist joining would have one full block (0800hrs to 1530hrs) of Operating Room time every two weeks.
The Ophthalmology Service currently provides 80% call coverage and you will be expected to do an equal share.
Remuneration would consist of fee for service via OHIP as well as Hospital On Call Coverage
The hospital provides surgical services in the specialties of Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Plastic Surgery, Dental Surgery and Urology.
Cornwall is situated in Eastern Ontario on the St. Lawrence River one hour west of Montreal and one hour Southeast of Ottawa. We have a bridge link to the US. The area is within easy reach of skiing and the river offers a variety of great sailing and water recreational activity. We serve a community of 60,000 and property costs are well below those of more urban areas such as Ottawa or Toronto.
The successful applicant must be certified or be eligible to be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be eligible for full Medical licensure in the Province of Ontario. Candidates will also be required to provide a vulnerable sector police check, proof of liability insurance, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination as well as current immunization records.
