Job Description
Join Our Physician Team in Beautiful Prince Edward County!
The Prince Edward Family Health Team is a dedicated and collegial group of 23 rural physicians practicing in one of Canada’s most sought-after communities—Prince Edward County. Just 45 minutes from Kingston, 2.5 hours from Toronto, and 3 hours from Ottawa, “The County” offers an exceptional rural lifestyle with easy access to urban amenities.
We’re currently recruiting Family Physicians to join our full Family Health Organization (FHO) model. Whether you’re an experienced practitioner or a new graduate, we have opportunities ready for you.
What We Offer:
- Self-directed, full-spectrum family medicine
- $100,000 signing bonus
- Integrated support from the Prince Edward Family Health Team
- LMIA and work permit support
Your Practice at a Glance:
As a member of the FHO, you will maintain an office-based family practice located in either Picton or Wellington. You will also provide inpatient care at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital (PECMH) for approximately 3 to 4 weeks per year. During your hospitalist week, urgent appointments associated with your practice are covered by Nurse Practitioners from the Family Health Team at no cost to you.
Our community allows you to tailor your practice to your interests and lifestyle. We currently have practice takeover and practice partner opportunities available—with office space, staff, and patients ready to go.
Our Team:
We’re more than just a group of doctors—we’re a collaborative, supportive, and forward-thinking community. Many of us teach family medicine residents from Queen’s University and the University of Toronto.
You’ll work in partnership with the Prince Edward Family Health Team, offering 16+ specialized programs including:
- Mental Health & Addictions
- Diabetes Education
- Lung Health & Smoking Cessation
- Cardiac Rehab
- Maternal and Infant Care
- Palliative Care
You’ll be supported by a team of Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers, Pharmacists, Dietitians, Nurses, and more. Plus, we offer comprehensive EMR and IT support using Accuro across our network. Learn more at www.princeedwardfht.com
Our Facilities:
Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital is located in Picton and forms part of the four-site Quinte Health network. It provides excellent access to specialists and includes 18 inpatient beds, a 24-hour Emergency Department, an endoscopy suite, and several specialty clinics. Physicians in our community also have the option to work in long-term care facilities and at our three-bed residential hospice.
Office space is readily available, with three practice complexes in Picton and one in Wellington, offering a variety of options depending on your needs. We’re also looking ahead to the future—with a brand-new hospital currently under development and scheduled to open in 2027.
Life in Prince Edward County:
Prince Edward County offers a rare balance of professional fulfillment and an outstanding quality of life. Known for its white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and the famous Sandbanks Provincial Park, The County is a thriving, creative, and entrepreneurial community.
Enjoy:
- Award-winning wineries, craft breweries, and farm-to-table cuisine
- A vibrant arts and culture scene
